Update on Progress

Yesterday was my check-up with the midwife and things are looking good! Everything is as it should be at this point, the baby is strong and healthy, heartrate has slowed down to about 120 bpm, meaning this is a full-grown baby that is ready to be born any day now ;o) I'm about 1 cm dilated. She recommended that if the baby isn't here by June 12, we pick a date to induce so I'm guessing the 15-16th will be the latest arrival date for our new baby girl.

This week was interesting, my Braxton-Hicks contractions have gotten stronger and some days I will have them for 2-3 hours about 10-15 minutes apart...then nothing. So it's all doing good work to prepare my body, but she isn't ready to come out...yet.

On Monday night Jarrett will leave for his conferene in Orlando until Friday. My Mom is coming to stay with me, just in case, and Susan is on call to be my coach. He didn't want to go, but the conference host has offered to buy a direct flight home if I go into labor before the week is through. Let's just hope I don't go into strong labor at midnight when the airlines are closed for the night.

Yesterday I went to the pool for a bit, that felt great! Today I went to watch my work team play Corporate Challenge Softball. You can only imagine how badly I wanted to play! But I was quite content sitting on the bleachers taking in some sun. They played awesome and advanced to Sunday without a loss. The team captain did warn me last year that I might get pregnant, as 3 of the last 5 first base players had babies the year following their first base duties - funny how things work out! I'll be back next year. And I can't wait to pick up my tennis racquet again!
